The Ultimate Galway stag do

Located on Ireland's rugged west coast, Galway is made of stern stuff and has learnt how to look after itself, it's also learnt exactly how to have a party. Nightlife here is fantastic but because there's a more chilled out vibe compared to busy Dublin it's perfect for stags who want to hit the town without having to fight through waves of tourists. On your Galway stag do, it's easy to get a taste of city life and country activities at the same time because it's located right on the coast but close to rolling green fields too. Well known for being a stylish location, your Galway stag do will be kept well watered by over 60 great pubs.

Good booze, good music and a great atmosphere in what was voted one of the worlds 10 sexiest cities (okay that was back in 2007 but we reckon she's aged really well). You'll also find some top restaurants are to be found in abundance in Galway and so affordable eats are never far away. This arty, lively Irish city buzzes with real traditional life and soul and we highly recommend it as a top destination.

What's Hot

Galway is an amazing place to visit at any time of year but if you happen to be around on St. Patrick's Day, you're in for a real treat! As well as an amazing party sprit in the air, you can watch the traditional parade, dance events and enjoy a cold Guinness out on the sunny streets which overlook the bay – what could be better? The Oyster Festival here is famous all over the globe and home to various crazy events, ranging from the world shucking competition to the oyster Olympics and delicious tasting sessions.

Make sure to visit Galway's exciting Latin Quarter, sink a pint or two of Guinness (of course) and make a trip to Salthill's amazing prom. Blackrock beach and the coastline are must visits too, as well as the Spanish arch and cathedral. Located right by the sea, seafood in Galway is second to none, so be sure to splash out and try some lobster or oysters!

Getting there...

Because Galway is located right on the coastline, it can take a little further for you and the boys to get in but trust us, it's totally worth it! From Dublin's Heuston Station, you can catch a train to Galway up to 6 times a day or alternatively, catch a long distance coach with Bus Éireann from loads of different destinations around Ireland. If you're flying in or arriving near to the airport, it's easy to grab a trip on the CityLink or GoBus for a quick trip over from the main airports. If you're ok with driving, take the M4 west and then continue along the M6.

It's easy to get around the city of Galway on foot as it's small and compact and a trip to popular Salthill is just a pleasant 20-30 minute walk away. However, if you're feeling a little lazy or have further to go, take a bus with Bus Éirann or CityDirect all over Galway.
