Irish stags for Irish lads

The Ultimate Belfast stag do

Belfast might always have looked at itself in the mirror and cracked jokes about how it is the dishevelled man of Europe but it can't make those jokes anymore. Belfast is one of the most rapidly up-and-coming party spots to be found anywhere in Europe! Dublin might be known as a party city but Northern Ireland's capital will now give any major city a good fight for the title of party heavyweight and won't even put down its chips.

And it's not just the nightlife. The city's got plenty going on even when the sun comes up… and we don't just mean the miraculous hangover cure that is an Ulster fry. Cool and urbane, Belfast's literally thriving as one of the most modern and exciting cities around, promising you and the lads a belter in Belfast.

Belfast Stag Nights

Craic, Guinness, and music – a stag night in Belfast is off to a brilliant start before it’s even begun. Factor in the welcoming old pubs from Belfast’s past, and the huge, shiny nightclubs built as part of the city’s regeneration, and you’ve got the recipe for a weekend of epic proportions. If you want, you can even throw in a stop by a lapdancing club or a stand-up night to top the whole thing off.

What's Hot

If, in between the huge range of activities and entertainment offered by, you fancy taking a little downtime to just enjoy Belfast, there are plenty of ways for you to do that too. Aside from the tourist attractions like the Titanic Belfast (which was built here) and the Royal Botanic Gardens (home to a lot of festivals and music, much cooler than “botanic” sounds), there are also some brilliant venues for some world class performances. Check out the Odyssey Arena to see anyone from Miley Cyrus to Black Sabbath, or the Waterfront Complex for top comedy from household names like Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble and Jon Richardson.

If you're planning to come during Belfast's biggest festivals, you'll have to book early. Belfast Mela sees around 200,000 flock to the city for the mix of live music, dance, circus performances, food, fashion and crafts. The Belfast Festival isn't quite as big, but as the second largest UK arts festival it still attracts a non-too-shabby 60,000 people.

Getting there...

Unusually, train probably isn't your best bet for getting in to Belfast. There are only a few lines running, towards Bangor, Portadown, Larne, Londonderry, and Dublin, but these aren't always particularly fast or economical – a journey from Dublin takes about 2 ½ hours. You may have better luck with a bus or coach; they run frequently all over Northern Ireland to Belfast and frequently to Dublin. There's also a daily bus to and from Cork and Galway. If you'd rather just drive, the M1 or M2 east will bring you towards Belfast.

When you're there, Belfast city centre is easily explored by foot. The bus routes around the city are extensive if you fancy going a little further afield, but expensive – if you've got a large bunch of lads, it's probably worth just sharing and booking a taxi instead, particularly at night when the buses don't run.
