You’ll have heard of paintball and it’s likely you’ll know that it’s one of the most popular stag weekend activities in Europe and the USA.

what is it?

Paintball is essentially a boys own war game using guns and paint pellets (balls). You’ll arrive and be given an introduction, kit and safety briefing at the site, all attendees will then be split into 2 teams. You’ll all be briefed on the game’s scenario e.g. what your “force” is supposed to achieve whether it’s kidnap, storm the fort, capture the flag or other. (You’ll enjoy a number of different scenarios over your paintball session). The teams will then separate and take different ends of the battlefield. Then the paintball battle commences, you’ll be pap-pap-papping the paintball hell out of each other! When you’re splattered you’re out and you’ll have to wait for the next game to get your revenge. There are “marshals” on the side who keep an eye on the game (and your safety). It really is top end boys’ own fun, great value and one of the greatest group activities, paintball’s absolutely ideal for a stag weekend.

who can play?

Almost anybody can play paintball and that’s the beauty of it. The only criteria that could hinder anyone are age and fitness, because of the paintball pellets flying around there will usually be an age restriction for the under 16s, also if you’re suffering from any medical conditions it may not be advised to play (if in doubt always consult your doctor). But if you’re in good health, over 18 and enjoy a reasonable level of fitness it’s ideal you’lllove it!

where is it played?

All over, paintball’s a massively popular game. The trick is to play at only the best paintball sites and that’s where StagWeb comes in. Some paintball sites are worlds apart from others, it can be the difference between playing in a wood or a fully prepared battle zone, and when it’s done well the day may also offer variations like “speed ball” (using giant inflatables for protection). In Ireland there are a number of paintball fields that are head and shoulders above the rest, the same goes for the UK and Europe.

what’s the standard paintball equipment?

Typically you’ll be issued with:
- a paintball marker
- goggles
- overalls
- CO2 gas
- 100 paintballs (you can always buy more on site)

how long does a paintball session take?

Typically you’ll be looking at a half-day or a full day. Half and full day paintball options are common in Ireland and the UK whereas in Europe and the USA they tend to focus more on half days (though full days can be arranged if preferred). A typical paintball half-day session will be in the region of 3 to 3.5 hours (excluding transport) e.g. 9.30 – 1pm / 1.30 – 5pm. Times will change slightly with summer and winter seasons. If you opt for a full day lunch will be provided and refreshments are always available. And as far as our paintball venues go, despite there being plenty of outside space, bathroom facilities are usually well catered for.

how do I plan a paintball day or half-day for a stag party?

That’s the easy bit, just decide when and where you want to play and let us know, we’ll take care of the rest giving you the best recommendations for the budget. You don’t need to worry about final stag party paintball numbers until 5 weeks before, it’s likely numbers will change a little up to the event. And when you’re ready we can also help with transport if required.
